Lightweight Military Gear For Afghanistan

There is an awesome Army Times article (albeit slightly dated) about an Army unit that dropped 14 to 23 pounds from their gear, each courtesy of the Asymmetric Warfare Group’s Lighten the Soldier’s Load assessment program. That’s a significant improvement over issued gear. And while the Army spent an average 0f $8,800 per soldier, their recommendations are a great guide for inspiration and advice on choosing lightweight gear to suit your individual needs.
