Marine Corps Times has an interesting article about Colt, Remington, FNMI (FNH USA), Smith & Wesson, and Heckler and Koch USA, lobbying for the contract to build the successor to the Colt M4. Colt has previously held the exclusive contract for nearly a decade. Colt will surely be submitting the Colt Modular Carbine Model CM901, Remington will submit the Remington Adaptive Carbine Rifle (ACR), FNMI will submit the FN MK 16, and H&K will submit the HK416. But the real question is, when will the public get to find out what Smith & Wesson has been developing as an M4 successor?
